Creating a live connection to SSAS MD or Tabular is working just fine. However, it would be very beneficial to have the ability to create new calculated measures (in MDX). Just like we can create our own calculated measures when writing an MDX query for a SSRS dataset.

Hi everyone! I'm really excited to announce that you can now create calculated measures on top of a live SSAS connection! The measures are stored in your report definition and sent along with the queries to your model. I agree with the previous comments this isn't complete from our perspective. Multi-dimensional support is needed. A big pushback from our key user base to wider adoption is this support

Will and Chuck - We MUST HAVE MULTI-DIMENSIONAL SUPPORT for new measures, calculations AND hierarchies. Please advise when you plan to release, if ever. Please advise when this will be available as we have multiple customers that need it yesterday to support their PBI deployments. Thanks much!

Agree, I was hopeful with this release that it would support multidimensional models. I actually couldn't figure out why it wasn't working until I came back to this thread to see these comments.
Will, could you comment on when multidimensional models will be supported?

I am sorry but this is simply not ok. It is seriously disappointing how Microsoft is managing this. The feature clearly stated BOTH Multidimensional AND Tabular. It is not fair with the community to simply deliver 50% , and close as completed! . Many people that has been voting on Multidimensional will not vote on the new idea.

I'm totally Agree with previous comments, this is not complete. Please correct the status of the idea and tell us when will it be posible for Multidimensional SSAS models.

The idea clearly is about BOTH multidimensional and tabular. This is 1/2 completed.
