Dragging a hierarchy into a report and change it to slicer... can we get a slicer with hierarchy (collapsible/expandable)?

With the June release of Power BI Desktop we've made this feature generally available. Thanks for voting and giving us feedback!

RE: Slicer Hierarchy

Great.

Please add Expand All / Collapse All buttons.

And of course a hide empty level option.

RE: Slicer Hierarchy

Really cool feature for a first party control. It lacks the ability to specify the sort order of fields inside the hierarchy. Alphabetical / Numeric based on Field and the row data is not always correct for a business context. Once fields are added it would be great to have a option to specify a sort order for each field based on another column. Also pushing the sort order through from datasets to reports built off of datasets.

RE: Slicer Hierarchy

Hi,
Works great for me, except that my hierarchy does not always have the same depth for all branches and I need to the ability to remove empty members.
Thanks!

RE: Slicer Hierarchy

Agreed! We would love the ability to hide empty members!

This feature would be very useful! We need a better visual for ragged hierarchies without having to go to something custom.

RE: Slicer Hierarchy

Great work on this visual! A suggestion:

The Hierarchy Slicer in AppSource has the ability to hide empty members, this would be a very useful feature to add as it would provide a better visual for ragged hierarchies.

RE: Slicer Hierarchy

Thanks for providing this, it's very useful. Unfortunately I've struck some incorrect behaviour.
I've replicated it with a simple table in a blank file, see PBIX file and screenshots here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjRBymBncy4CiMxtPHbr9XM7rphA8Q?e=WdwN1h
I have three levels in the filter, the issue is simple to replicate:
Step 1. Select a level 1 item
Step 2. Deselect a level 2 item
Step 3. Deselect a level 3 item
Visually the hierarchy filter displays the selections you've made, but put a table of the content beside it and you'll see that the filter is actually selecting all items under the initial level 1 selection.
I assume this has something to do with the difference between selection and deselection (e.g. with items A, B and C, there is a difference between selecting
'B' and 'C'
and
"All except 'A')

RE: Slicer Hierarchy

An improvement suggestion:
At the moment if you select something on level 2 or above then the filter box displays "Multiple selections", even if you've made only one selection (and even if only single selection is possible). It'd be good if it instead stated the actual selection, maybe with an optional level name too (e.g. if level one is country and level two is state, if the person chooses "Alaska" from level two, then the box would display "State: Alaska")

RE: Slicer Hierarchy

I have a Year, Period, Week hierarchy, and would like to display the data in the hierarchy (as I can in the current Preview version) but enforce that only certain levels are selectable. ie there are 13 periods within year 2019, and I can select any single period, but do not allow 2019 itself (all children) to be selected
