  1. DAX calculations at visual level of reports

    Provide a simple way to write formulas that work with the data displayed in a visual. For example, the running total of a measure in a table or in a chart according to the sort order of the visual should be something like this:

    Running Total = ReportData[Sales] + PREVIOUS ( ReportData[Running Total] )

    Where ReportData is the content of the current visual, Sales and Running Total are the names of the columns in the current visual. The user is not expected to know the model content, the calculation can be executed on top of any data currently being displayed.

  2. Page/Tab Level Secuirty

    Row level security makes it hard to hide EVERYTHING from a specific user login having the page/Tab secuirty within Power BI for different user Login would be very helpful
    For Example: something like USERPRINCIPALNAME() which would be dynamic for different user login to hide and show pages that would act as Page/Tab Level Security.

  3. Option to use either light or dark interface.

    New Desktop app update installed an almost white user interface. There is zero contrast which is not good for the eyes. I see where some people have requested a light interface so incorporate an option to select either light or dark theme like in the Office apps.

  4. Support for multi-monitor in Power BI Desktop

    When you develop complex data models and reports, it's common to switch frequently back and forth between the Report, Data and Model views.

    Having support for multiple monitors would enable to Power BI developers to use secondary (or third) monitor to simultaneously and seamlessly work across these views.

  6. Power Query: Make it easier to connect to files on OneDrive and SharePoint

    Connecting to files stored on OneDrive and SharePoint is a difficult and confusing experience. While it is possible, it is far too difficult.

    As more and more move to working in an online environment we need a simple way of connecting.

  7. Create Multiple Apps per Workspace

    Recreating this idea, since the previous version seems to have been deleted.

    One app per workspace is extremely limiting in large organizations, where many different subsets of reports need to be shared with different users. One example: I have a collection of reports in an app. All need to be shared with management, but only some should be visible to non management. Currently, I would have to create multiple workspaces with duplicate reports to accomplish this. Using datasets across multiple workspaces does NOT fill this use case.   8. Improve performance of MDX queries using Analyze in Excel

    When you use Analyze in Excel, MDX queries are sent to the Power BI dataset. If you have a PivotTable with 10 measures, the performance is usually slower compared to a similar Matrix in Power BI with the same content. Power BI generates DAX queries.
    One of the reasons why this difference exists is that the DAX query is optimized using a process called "fusion", which includes in a single storage engine request the aggregations required for multiple measures, whereas this feature has not been implemented for MDX queries.

  9. Turn off Matrix Total

    It is not intuitive how to turn off the Grand Total row in a matrix. If you go to Format\Grand Total, there is no option to turn it off. Instead you have to go to Subtotal\Per Row Level and then turn Header off. This is not intuitive and not discover able unless someone else shows you how to do it.

  10. Support creating calculation groups in Power BI Desktop

    Support the creation of DAX calculation groups in Power BI Desktop - otherwise Power BI can only consume calculation groups created in Analysis Services, whereas it would be very useful to have this feature in any Power BI model.
    Even just a simple text window with a script would be fine. You can clean up the UI later.

  11. Add expand/collapse feature to column headers

  13. Send Refresh Failure Notifications to Distribution List

    It would be helpful to be able to set up a distribution list of those to send refresh failure notifications to. Currently, only the owner receives an email, but we have several administrators that require notification when certain reports fail.

  14. No Ctrl-Click on Buttons Needed for Bookmarks View Mode

    When editing in Desktop, you have to Ctrl-Click a button to trigger the assigned action - very good. But when you have multiple bookmarks and you go into "View" mode, you are effectively in "PowerPoint Mode". When in this mode, there should be just a single click for a button (no ctrl needed).

  15. Field Format - Report Wide

    We often have columns or measures that we want to be formatted the same in EVERY report tab in EVERY visual the same way. There is no universal method to format a measure in every visual in a report. We have to go into each visual on each report tab and do the exact same field formatting (colors, etc.) in each visual. We would like there to be a Universal option.

    And, you know what will come next? :-) No doubt, somebody will want the formatting to be report wide EXCEPT for one single visual somewhere. Is that possible too?

  16. Measure-driven DataLabels

    We need to be able to label specific data points with dynamically generated values (including text). Use cases include:
    * Labeling the first or last point of line charts with values
    * Labeling the last point of series in a line chart with the series name, to directly inform the user which series is which, rather than have them constantly move their eyes between a legend and the many series on a graph.
    * Labeling particular values of interest, to aid storytelling.

    These things are bulk-standard features of good dashboard design, and are essential in order to design optimal user-friendly…

  17. Built in Git support in PowerBI Desktop

    When you create a PowerBI report in Power BI Desktop it transparently create \ use a git repository. So you just worked normally, then when you hit publish, it actually push to remote.

    Gitignore could be used to exclude data from being published to the repository. PowerBI would have version control which is desperately needed.

    This would work well with the whole Microsoft buying Github \ Azure DevOps, both from the perspective of promoting good practices such as code version control and CI\CD - process of developing in development and promoting to UAT\production

  19. Analyze which visuals are used across your organization from an admin perspective

    It would be very useful to have an admin overview to see which visuals are used in reports across your organization. Especially for custom visuals to see if these visuals are certified, uncertified or organizational allowed visuals.

    These insights can be used from an admin perspective to analyze the impact before disabling custom visuals on tenant level.

  20. Display user's preferred name in Power BI web app and desktop like other O365 applications

    Currently, Power BI web app and desktop app displays as Given Name + Last Name. While everywhere else it displays name with is the users Preferred First Name + Preferred Last Name.

    For example a user has a given name of "Elizabeth Smith" with a preferred name as "Betty Smith". When in the Power BI desktop or sharing a Power BI report, you see "Elizabeth" and not "Betty". However, in Outlook or MS Teams, you see the preferred "Betty".
