Good grief, this idea was originally posted SEVEN years ago! And still it's not taken up by the PowerBI team?
It gets even worse when ETL runs in PBI data flows. Here you can't use the Python or R workarounds because they are not supported in the PBI service.
Please add Regex to dataflows as well!
Assuming MS have written PowerQuery in .NET, it would be easy passthru tech to enable regex ... such a quick win, it's surprising it hasn't already been added really.
You can use the python plugin to do REGEX but it is tedious. I would much prefer to have it available natively in Power Query.
Definitely need this basic function for any data manupulation. Can't believe it's not included.
Regex support is one of functionality I miss most in PowerQuery. Doing multiple "substitute values" is awkward
Please provide this
Just wasted two days on filtering issues that would have been solved in 5 minutes with regular expressions. This is not only badly needed, it should be a basic feature of Power Query !!
I've created Custom M Code function to let Power Query in Excel & Power BI able to use RegEx.
pls feel free to try my code. https://www.thepexcel.com/power-query-regex/
It's 2021 and Microsoft ♥ Linux. Time for some Regular Expression ♥ for Power Query. Can't be that hard to add from the .Net libraries.
