Whenever Power BI warns that "this dashboard has Power BI Pro content", provide a link to describe specifically what Pro content is included in the dashboard. For example, is it pro content because it's in a group workspace, or is it pro content because it's a direct query connection to an on-premise data source, etc.

Premium and Premium Per Users have a different icon than shared workspace, this information can also be extracted programmatically via APIs. To learn more about workspaces and sharing capabilities please visit the Microsoft Docs - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-new-workspaces#features-that-work-differently

I also love how MS has removed the pages that explain what pro content is https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/power-bi-pro-content-what-is-it/

The worst feature of PBI to date. So, if I want to share our customer KPIs with the customer we have to 1. obligate them to purchase a license 2. not share KPIs interactively 3. just give them a ppt export of KPIs manually. Totally disappointing.

PBI team.

Myself and a few analysts have championed PBI over Tableau in our company. We are global corporation and have produced a few proof of concepts, presenting them in the US and Europe.

The introduction of "PRO content" with a 60 day trial has significantly derailed our progress. We were not informed that certain content was "PRO" and there is no indication of what a license fee might be. Given that Tableau already has relationship managers working senior IT management, I honestly think this has destroyed Power BI's chances of being at the heart of data visualisation in this company.

Very foolish and very frustrating. I understand that Microsoft want to be paid, but this is not the way to go about it.

Hello,

Any updates from Microsoft if when can this be fixed? Or will this be ever be fixed?

This is incredibly frustrating and immediately limits my use of the tool. I have reports that I could share with the masses to promote PowerBI and but this error prevents it.

I am simply using Excel spreadsheets saved in a folder on my desktop.

I faced the same issue today. One of our team members got a prompt that they need to request a trial PRO license to access a dashboard which was always accessible before with a free license. I guessed today that they might have been able to access it before because they might have been using a trial license. So I replicated the data set, report, dashboard renamed it and published it as a new data set, report, dashboard. The team member can access this new dashboard but if they try to access the older dashboard they still get the message to request a trial PRO license to access the dashboard even though they both have the same data sources and both are scheduled for a daily refresh. It seems recreating or publishing a new copy of everything fixes it. But how often will this happen?? Every time someone's trial license expires and they are trying to access a dashboard that has non PRO features? The older dashboard now shows a message "this dashboard has Power BI Pro content" which wasn't the case before and the new replicated dashboard does not have this message.

RE: identify power bi pro content

I am hoping this is a bug because our previously non-pro dashboards are now demanding pro licenses and are inaccessible without a pro trial license. Up voting this proposal as we've just spent several hours trying to find the pro content. The article on this is so vague as to be useless.

RE: identify power bi pro content

I think the whole Pro, and no Premium, stuff is very vague. We actually dismissed Power BI as an option a few months ago and have since found that it appears to meet all of our needs. We received the error mentioned in this thread however when we tested the dashboard with non-Pro account there was no clue as to what the error might have been referring to.
