    Paginated Reports: Drill-through and Actions

Add drill-through and hyperlink actions to Paginated Reports on the Power BI Service. Reports should be able to link to details (e.g. images of invoices) and should be able to drill through to detail transaction reports. Subreports are also a feature needed to migrate off of our hybrid SSRS/ Power BI solution for Enterprise BI.

Drill though on Visual to Paginated report..

Please allow the ability to attach dynamic ‘smart’ paginated reports to a visual. This allows for parameter driven paginated report drill through from a visual Ex: 1. Visual for Data Discovery & Analysis 2. Produce Report on your analysis 3. Allow for ‘insights’ commentary to be included from the visual into the underlying report.. Perfect!! This is the MOST COMMON use case for data driven decision making globally!!!

    Drill-through between different reports

Currently, drill-through is supported/possible only between different pages of the same report. There has to be a feature to implement drill-through between different reports.

Drill-through button to drill through between reports

The drill-through button only supports drill-through between pages within the same report.

To drill through to other reports, you must navigate through the right-click menu.

I would like the ability to drill through between reports using the drill through button.

To make the report intuitive and easy to use for the average user, it should be possible to navigate between pages by simply clicking a button on the screen, without using technical terms like drill-through.

Another weakness of Power BI reports that make heavy use of drill-throughs is that several developers cannot develop reports in parallel.

Support for drill-through button functionality between different report files would allow for parallel report development by several people.

Paginated Reports - include "Find Text in Report" feature

The Report Viewer Web Part from Reporting Services in SharePoint Integrated Mode included a "Find Text in Report" feature; this allowed users to enter a search value on the navigation bar, which could then search the entire paginated report's generated content (not just the current page).

There is currently no matching feature available in the Power BI Service's paginated report viewer; the only matching search is via the browser interface, which is limited to the current page's visible content.

Imbedded Paginated Reporting Supported in Teams

Currently it is not possible to imbed a Paginated Report in a teams HTML Tab using the Power BI embedded link. Teams does not support the security authentication for the Paginated Report. This type of report provided valuable flexibility in reporting and presentation that should be supported by Teams and Power BI

Export Paginated Reports on Mobile App

I run IT in an organization that primarily uses Paginated Reports. We are moving from SSRS because it seems that Power BI supports most of what we need from Paginated Reports, with new features constantly being added and a much nicer user interface.

One example of these features is the ability to run Paginated Reports from the mobile app, which we love. Unfortunately, while the interface for loading a report and defining parameters is excellent, the interface of actually viewing the report seems to be lacking.

Reports don't let you zoom out all the way, so it's difficult to get a wide/full view of the Paginated Report. This wouldn't be the end of the world if we could export the report and view it as a PDF, but there seems to be no way to do this either.

It would be great to be able to export Paginated Reports from the mobile app. At the very least, as a PDF, but even better would be full support for XLSX, PPTX, and CSV. Additionally great would be flexible options to save the file locally, to the cloud (OneDrive, etc), or email the file right from the app (from the user's local device email). Is there any reason why such a feature doesn't already exist? I was surprised that it didn't, since most file-oriented mobile apps have support these kinds of features for years.

Allow more than 4 drillthrough actions in paginated reports

SSRS reports did not have a limit on the number of drillthrough actions users could take.

Drillthrough is very useful for looking at lists, drilling through to details and going back and forth. Making the user refresh the whole report when they get to 4 drillthroughs is very unfriendly and time consuming.

One example: We use 'next week' and 'previous week' links in our roster report which drill through with the existing params for other items and sends a new date param for the week.

This and similar drillthrough links for employee type etc. are all used within minutes of each other to print roster exports. Very frustrating to be stopped regularly and have to refresh and re-query the whole report to keep going.

In the Power BI doco go to:

    paginated-reports

    report-designdrillthrough-drilldown-subreports-nested-data-regions

See this reference to the limit:

"In paginated reports, you can drill through reports down to four (4) levels of child reports"

Service principal authentication support for data sources in Paginated(RDL) reports

We are only seeing two options(Basic, OAuth2) for data source authentication in a paginated report, Recently we see that the Service principal authentication enabled for Power BI(PBIX) reports, similarly we need the same feature for Paginated reports, if we try to add the service principal authentication forcefully using rest api we are getting an error like - An unexpected error occurred DmtsDataSource: DiscoverMonikers returned an unsupported credential type for DataSource: "[ccon]AzureSqlDS[/ccon]", DataSourceType: SQLAZURE, CredentialType: ServicePrincipal
