Comments can be disabled via the report settings in the service, but are re-enabled if the report is re-published from desktop.

Could an option be added to Desktop to disable comments?
Thanks

RE: Disable Comments in Desktop

Please dont override the admin preference when updating the report from the desktop. If the admin has disabled comments on the report service then it should remain thus after uploading an updated report.

RE: Disable Comments in Desktop

This is very annoying, as it adds one more step to deployments. Would also be nice if there was an option to disable from all reports. The problem is that comments are not stored in the PBIX file. If I need to delete and republish due to a bug in the deployment, then the comment history disappears, thus disrupting the customer's experience. They would rather simply use the @ mention/sharing in teams feature to steer user behavior.

RE: Disable Comments in Desktop

We experience exactly the same issue. It is unwanted behaviour that comments are re-enabled after each publish.
