We really love the new feature of 'Composite Models' in the Power BI July 2018 update! This enables us to join custom lists with DirectQuery sources.

It would also be beneficial if this would also work when connected to SSAS Tabular in DirectQuery.
This would stronlgy improve the enterprise features of Power BI.

The preview is underway: DirectQuery for Power BI datasets and Azure Analysis Services (preview) | Microsoft Power BI Blog | Microsoft Power BI. Please try it and provide feedback.

Add this Feature

a) To combine multiple SSAS data sources.

Say, if we are combining from two different Sales (platform, product, area) cubes and present as one single place like dashboard.

b) To combine SSAS and other data sources.

Say, if we have Sales Cube and may want to have SQL (lookup, category) tables i.e., Having a model on top of a Cube data in Power BI.

Note:
I understand this may lead to less capabilities of SSAS and more behave like Flattened (table) structure.

Currently, once you connect to a Power BI Service/Online Dataset you cannot add additional data sources. We have several datasets we'd like to put in the same report, but can't because they are over the 1GB limit on size. If we could live-connect to them all in Power BI Desktop this would help.

I work in a fairly large company (>6000 employees), where we are considering switching to Power BI. However, if we are not able to enrich our data without having to download all of it every time(!), this will not be a valid option for us. Please consider including this feature, as it really will open up for using Power BI in a a professional setting.
