We want the ability to allow users to export summarized data, but not the underlying data. Is this functionality possible?

After reading this and other posts, I had our sys admin navigate to Settings -> Admin Portal -> Tenant Settings -> Export Data and disable the Export Underlying data. However, this turned off BOTH of the export functions (summarized and underlying).

We are reporting on employee data. Reporting aggregations and not detail is key. As the content author I can control what visuals teammates have access too. However, if they can export the underlying data, the use of a summarized visualization is pointless. I have some users who are privileged with more access. For them, I create more detailed visualizations and allow them to export the summarized data. Since the visual is detailed it gives them all the info they need (and just what they need).

Also, I can't hide columns in report view because some roles need access to the columns while others do not.

Ideally, as the content author and dataset owner, I should be able to turn on and off the "export underlying data" feature. This is going to be a BIG setback and will reduce adoption of Power BI.

Absolutely essential in the edu world. This has to happen or we simply can’t use this product to flexibly create dashboards for various levels of users using state level flat files that contain extremely sensitive PII that can be viewed in the aggregate but not at the student level. Get this added please.

Totally agree, We need granular RBAC on this as we also manage sensitive data sets and so not want everone to have access to the data at detailed level. Only aggregated level. This is really stalling our usage of PBI

I totally agree. I am facing same issue. I have to restrict some people to export underlying data but end up restricting exporting functionality entirely, which I did not want. Now I have to send them exported summarized excel everyday. Does Microsoft have something planned for this ?
