Allow one or both of the following:

Allow a selection on a "master/main" slicer to clear selections on all other slicers. For example, selecting a value in a "Category" slicer would clear the selections in the "Subcategory" and "Sub subcategory" slicers.

Allow a parent/child relationship between slicers such that changing the parent slicer selection automatically clears the child slicer selection

When slicers have a hierarchical relationship (e.g. Category slicer, Subcategory slicer, Sub subcategory slicer, etc.), current behavior is confusing for users:

If relationship cross filter direction is single, changing a parent selection filters the child slicers but leaves the previous (on no longer applicable) child selections listed in their respective slicers. In addition, zero results are shown in the downstream report visualizations (e.g. a table showing the results of the slicer selections). The user has to clear all of the child selections first to drill-down again.

If relationship cross filter direction is both, selecting subcategory filters category list. User has to clear subcategory selection to change category selection. The further down the hierarchy, the more clears up the hierarchy you have to make to change the top of the hierarchy selection.

RE: Selecting slicer value clears all other slicer selections

This really needs to become a reality and can be set by the report designer. There are plenty of scenarios where parent-child slicer relationships within data from the same table should be respected, and the lack of this feature makes for sub-par reporting.

For example:

Client
Go-live
Value

AcmeTech
1/1/2018
5000

AcmeTech
2/1/2020
10000

CompuTech
2/1/2020
50000

If a user has a slicer set to AcmeTech and 1/1/2018 but then switch to CompuTech, the visuals are blank because there is no "simple" way to force the related slicer to, minimally, the first actual value for the newly selected item. This means you either (a) leave your users really confused, or (b) work up some convoluted error message solution to explain the problem. Very frustrating.

RE: Selecting slicer value clears all other slicer selections

This is very important for when we have slicers that are dependent on other slicers.  If I have one slicer for "Project Number", and other slicers whose values are project-specific, I would want a change in the Project Number slicer to remove all the project-specific slicer selections -- otherwise, I could have charts that are empty because no data has the new project number with the stale project-specific slicer values.  This is very disorienting to the business user!

Infact I have this requirement. Clear the child slicer selections based on the Parent slicer selected.

We have this problem on a report with 2 slicers on 2 fields (models under a brand) in the same table.

Same functionality for the new filter pane would be very handy!
