Filtering and Searching is poor. Get this right and Power BI will be the best. But until you do. You need to start again to include
- a powerful search option. Including using < > = etc
- select more than one option like Pete Mary John etc
- Different filters are linked. So selection in say a slicer shows in any other filter.
- Current selections can be easily shown in one list or box
- Easy to remove all filters / selections.
- Option to select all not selected etc
- Including closed or open filters. ie if closed click to open a temporary table larger table

RE: Massively Improve Filtering and Searching

One way this could be achieved would be to include two extra botton under the left hand side bar (only appearing when report is being used say under a line 1 A filter made section. If this is clicked a box would appear on top of the report should filters made in both filters the slicer. A rub it out option would be available for either all or just one and 2 a selection option. This would operate just like the fields filter but would also include the requirement shown above ie > ,multi selections etc. NB Clocking again would close or clicking on the report

RE: Massively Improve Filtering and Searching

'Two other areas that need improvement
- Make selections in a tables or a matrix.
- Improve the response time. Even small files are slowish to respond after a selection has been made. As opposed to the excellent drill around or down that is very good.
- Make it simple, slick and easy to use. The current filters (not the slicers) are not.

I find it frustrating that this one key area lets an otherwise brilliant product down so badly.

There also needs to be a link between the selections made and and the list of selectable items. For example if I type in the selection box > 500 then all values greater than 500 should be listed under the selection made. To either accept, part accept or reject bu clicking on the relevant item.

RE: Massively Improve Filtering and Searching

And it should be possible to include these filters either on the sheet with the visualizations or on the side bar as required. And both should be totally integrated. So if a selection is made for a customer in say a table then this selection should also show in any other customer filter.
