I have posted this question to StackOverflow and appears that a short name for Power Query Formula Language that is not 'M' does not exist.

Power Query Formula Language is too long

M is too short

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/35076031/is-there-a-short-name-for-power-query-formula-language-informally-known-as-m

We have discussed this on Twitter and there are good ideas. Thought I would post it here to make it official :)

When searching in Google, you will find: Power Query M or Power BI M.
I propose: Power M (adapted to this reality)
Or: PowerM (for a more unique and narrow search in the future)

Voted. PQL is short, easy to remember and fits close to the SQL language.

PQL || MQL It makes little difference, but let's just announce that at //BUILD and be done with it. :) Thanks.

I'm hoping this Docs idea (started by one of the key "M" developers) could be the opportunity to resolve this issue - please vote and comment: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/16204225-move-the-formula-language-m-documentation-to-d

I think "PQL" makes a lot of sense.
