What we really need is a slicer (filter) to be available over all tabs/pages. Maybe create a user control which can be placed on each page? In this user control you can define multiple filters/slicers which are available on each page. Maybe a kindof pulldown menu for this user control so it does not take up to much space?

This is actually available now! You can use the Sync Slicers functionality to apply the selection made in a slicer to other slicers in a report. You can hide slicers on the pages where you don't want it to appear, but it'll still have the filter applied.

RE: Slicer over all pages

Slicer Syncing is a good functionality! But, is there a way a report user can do his selection in one page and rest of the pages in the report will be filtered, without placing filter visuals in the child pages.

Use case : User needs to set filters in one page and navigate to other pages via buttons and see just the filtered data. This way user can print or generate PDF without having the filter visuals in the printed pages.

Hello, very useful "Slicer over different pages" functionnality appeared with February Power Bi Desktop release ! Butn if the slicer is visible in the "daughter" page, you can select items in it and that new selection does'nt update "father" slicer. I think the reports users will not understand !

Why isn't it available in Power-BI desktop?

RE: Slicer over all pages

check out in the new version app. go to "View" tab -> Sync slicers.

then just select the slicer you're interested in and mark the "sync" boxes on the left on the pages you want it to be synced.

it is also available in the online GUI. go to "edit report" -> view -> Sync slicers pane, and it's the same.

very neat and essential feature.

While the report level filter works for static filters (those that won’t be changed by the audience that will see and interact with the report), there Is still a huge need for user-slicers that filter across the reports and pages.

In my memory, which I might have made up, work on this idea was already started. Or is there another similar idea somewhere?

Use the Report Level Filters in the Fields menu under Visualizations options...

This change will help a lot for multi-page reports

RE: Slicer over all pages

Isn't this possible using the filter pane on the right of the report ? (Page level / Report level filter)

Great Idea, a lot of customers want this, so that you can build a sort of startreport, where you can filter and see all the results in the others page !!!!!
