I noticed that the completed installed base of our machines was not shown on the Bing Map. After experimenting I realised that it was because our ERP system works with 2 digit ISO country codes, while it seems you need the 3 digit country code. Our ERP system is limited to 2 characters. It would be great if Power BI supports 2 and 3 digits, For example, the country code RU did not show our machines in Russia.

I tried it out today by using the filled map and a 2 digit iso code field containing "RU" and data-categorized as "Country" for the location well. This worked like expected. However I don't know if it works in general. An official MS statement would be great, since they still train people to use 3 digit codes instead of 2 digit codes in an official learning path (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/modules/visuals-in-power-bi/5-map-visualizations).

OMG - I hope this is supported in the meanwhile. I don‘t want to know, how many wrong insights have been created by Power BI users worldwide due to this behavior.

Hi, this is very much needed. We are taking data straight from Microsoft Dynamics (aprox. 20k records) and the addresses have the 2-digit code for country, never even heard about a 3-digit before... And because of this Bing Maps is placing addresses all over the place: Turkey in North Corea, Spain in Argentina, UK in Australia, it is a mess!

I also spent/wasted quite a bit of time trying to figure out why Russia was not showing up on my map. I find it crazy that ISO 3166 Alpha-2 codes are not used.

Currently, Russia (RU) is not shown properly as 2-digit ISO code while other countries are. Would be great to have full support as the current state is pretty misleading.

This would be nice indeed. For Virgin Islands, VG is recognized, but VI isn't.
