The query editor only has two options "Apply Now", and "Apply Later". What if I've messed up my query and never want to apply the changes?

Please bring back the ability to discard changes made during the time the query editor was open

This is available in Power BI Desktop - when you close the query editor and choose not to apply your changes, the yellow bar appears at the top of the canvas and allows you to discard your changes.

RE: Discard Query Changes

This is so frustrating. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Power BI Desktop 4 times on my laptop and I keep getting the same errors. I would think that doing a clean install would solve the issue. I'm having this problem with every single PBIX file and I cannot, at this point, even create a NEW PBIX. I'm an totally dead in the water!

What NOW, Microsoft????

RE: Discard Query Changes

I keep getting this message in error. It seems especially problematic with the June 2020 release. All I am doing is changing a the datatype on a field and this pops up and I can't get rid of it. Anyone else?

RE: Discard Query Changes

Let's say... For instance... That I'm working on a PowerBI report and I have refreshed the ENTIRE thing and I'm good (roughly 40 queries). THEN I'm adding a valid query and making changes, and one of the DBA's needs to refresh the database. My view or stored procedure is no longer there. I'm totally stuck, because I can't redeploy my resources until other databases have gotten refreshed as well. I LITERALLY can't continue on ANYthing else until that sProc is back in place and I complete that refresh. This is utterly broken.

RE: Discard Query Changes

Kind of crazy this isn't supported yet. The "workaround" doesn't address tables deleted in error. Without an autosave, this is a huge gap. Implementing it would save thousands of developer hours every year.

RE: Discard Query Changes

The inability to roll back to the prior iteration of the query before the change that broke things is a fundamental developer feature - and I'm not a Developer. How do I remember precisely what the last change to the code (applied steps or 'M' code) was? If the breakage is data-caused, how do I revert back to a state where I can redesign the query? PowerQuery debugging options are not good enough.

RE: Discard Query Changes

This feature is requested so often, why won't Microsoft listen?

RE: Discard Query Changes

Hy this is a solution that worked for me:

You must go to query editor and delete the wrong query from there,

Discard Query Changes: This is horrible...If there is an issue with your query, you are screwed. You guys need to fix this issue. If my computer crashes and you have to recover your file. Once again it tries to run all the queries, How many times I had to start over because you couldn't provide this very basic step. I think a high school dev could figure out a solution. I loss hours of work because of this issue. You changed the interface which was not necessary, but a simple fix to make things better isn't done. Are you trying to frustrate people?

RE: Discard Query Changes

Got into this endless loop by renaming a table inside "Edit Query". Shouldn't have done that. Now I can't undo the rename, can't drop the table, can't Not Apply. Can't do anything. Have not backup of my report either so I will probably loose a days work when recreating the whole report.
