Currently, when a date field exists, PBI will add the ability to select an axis of Year, Quarter, Month, or Day. Would like to have Week added to this list.

Custom hierarchy is probably best way - add to every date field. So if you add weekno or year-weekno then it automatically gets added to every date. Or another way to auto generate this across all tables

RE: Add "Week" to the Date Axis

'I recently made a report that used both week numbers and day of week break downs, both of which are unsupported by current date function. Luckily, my data set was small enough I could modify it in excel with reasonable ease, but would like to see this feature fully supported.

Week Number was relatively easy, however day of week was annoying because Power BI doesn't recognize days of week in their order.

In excel I made a new column based off my date information
=text(cell,"dddd")
however, power bi doesn't read it as date anymore so did a find and replace adding an number to each of the days to show 'proper' order in legends. I haven't had enough time to play with it to see if it will accept Monday-Sunday as date information or If it has to keep it as text.
An entry in my column looked like 01 Monday.

I did save it as a CSV to make sure it would remove the formulas and only keep the outputs.
I'm sure =weekday(cell,2) with some form of output dictionary could be used but again this should be done through drilling not with excel foo.

'+1. I want this too. I am working around this by using the DAX function WEEKNUM for every date value. Of course, it will give the same week number for 1/1/2016 and 1/1/2017. So, I have to prefix it with the year.

This would be a useful feature to have. I agree with Pete's comments that monthly is too vague but there's too much volatility in my data for daily to make any sense. Weekly is a good compromise. Please add it.

RE: Add "Week" to the Date Axis

I love to view week over week, days are too granular and months are too big. My current fix is in my Excel sheet to parse the date into a column called Week and then use that column for my X-Axis.

This would be extremely useful for me. Is there a decent workaround right now?
