    Provide option to 'Publish to Report Server' instead of 'Save As' on Power BI Desktop for Report Server

    While using PBI Desktop for PBIRS would be a lot better to have an option under the menu Publish rather on Save As in order to save a report to the Power BI Report Server.

    I agree with John (December 6, 2017)

    "Yes! Right now, I develop reports locally from a file share. When I do a Save As to Report Server, if I forget to do the next save to the file share as a Save As, the report will keep saving to the Report Server. I would like each Save/Save As to be local and a separate Publish or Deploy option (like Visual Studio for SSRS) to save the report to the server. Btw, I really like the Visual Studio feature for setting deployment options by environment, then all I have to do is pick the environment from the dropdown on the toolbar and deploy the report."

    Please change the publish button to also allow for a publish to Power BI Report Server. Current method is very unpolished!

    Hi Riccardo, when click the Publish button in PBI Report Server desktop version nothing happens. Can you confirm whether it is possible to publish to the Power BI service from the Report server version? We deploy to both PBI Service and our on prem Report Server so currently have to open and deploy in both versions, it would be good to consolidate to a single version.. Are there any plans to do this?

    Yes! Right now, I develop reports locally from a file share.     Also definitely need an option to not overwrite the data source on the server. I use integrated security developing locally and a separate account on the server. The latter gets overwritten for all SSAS-connected direct query report deployments - major nuisance and productivity killer.

    Yes definitely need a better publishing mechanism to Power BI Report Server. Currently, once you save to Report Server, the next time you save, it saves to Report Server and not to local folder. So I have to do save as again and save it back to local so my local/TFS copy is up to date.

    1. Need to have ability to setup multiple publishing configurations e.g. DEV, UAT, PRODUCTION so each URL can be configured and named (similar to how one can do in Visual Studio)
    2. Need an option to not overwrite data sources (similar to Visual Studio) so that once the data sources are configured in the relevant environments in the Report Manager, it won't overwrite with whatever is being used in PBIRS Desktop.

    I agree that it should be under 'Publish'. These are the current steps I always seem to go through:
    1. Check under 'Publish' and realize its not there
    2. Confirm that I opened the Report Server version of Power BI Desktop
    3. Think for a couple second...
    4. Check under 'Save As'

    Very much so, it's confusing. Also keep the location from which a report was opened when publishing to report server, having to browse each time is annoying
