As an IT administrator responsible for PBI Service management and governance. I would like the ability to create free form tags (Similar to azure portal tags). to track key metadata like a GL Code or responsible business department or other business specific information. These tags should be exposed via the API so they can be used to pull back in reports. tagging assets in the workspace (Reports, dashboards datasets) would be useful as well

RE: Allow workspace tagging

I agree with Jason requirement. We are considering options to capture Metadata tags associated with Workspaces. We have considered using the Workspace description. The free text field will allow us to capture the following examples using the Power BI Rest API, but we would need to parse the information.Environment Type: Systest, UAT, Production, PoC, OtherDeveloper Team: Team A, Team B, Team CDepartment: Sales, Finance, ManagementGitHub Repository: true/falseTarget Audience: Sales Rep, Department Managers, ExecIt would be nice though to have the ability to add standard and custom attributes to the Workspace and export these via the API.

RE: Allow workspace tagging

Agree on the tagging request. We are looking for ways to make report fields searchable via the Power BI search box so an end user can more easily find the reports or shared datasets available with specific data. Could be accomplished through searchable tagging on resources or workspaces.

RE: Allow workspace tagging

Yes! Please empower self-service like this to developers and admins. Self-reporting and self-analysis within power bi, of power bi, is very limited and disjointed.
