Will it be possible to develop and display a Progress/Status Bar indicator during data refresh of a dataset in the Power BI Service Cloud, and possibly with Estimated Time of Completion and/or data size?

It will be helpful to have this admin service tool by Power BI Admin technical support group at various companies using Power BI service cloud when performing data refresh of datasets in Development, Test, and/or Production workspaces and where their datasets use Import Query mode to store and cache data when pulling data from their external front-end source system(s) such as SQL Database server, Oracle Database server, etc..

We only get notified by e-mail alert notification from Microsoft Power BI that data refresh failed of a dataset. So we have to notify our Power BI admin support group to re-do data refresh manually via Remedy service ticket system.

Example:

A dataset having 500MB data size will take estimated running time of 2 hours to complete a full data refresh with a progress/status bar indicator using percentage at 5% or 10% interval until completion or by actual data size by increments of 5MB or 10MB completion until it reaches to 500 MB.

Analogy will be like in Sharepoint when uploading a large file, it shows the tiny long progress indicator of bytes transferred out of total size of bytes (example: 10MB of 500MB) until it reaches the total file size of 500MB, and upload is done.

or better yet, make the refresh fasters. My end users are disappointed in the timing -- especially when showing our c-suite.

Under Refresh History link, we have to use and look at the refresh history activity log of a dataset to estimate the running time of data refresh based on From and To date posted in last few runs. So we have to notify our admin support team of estimated running time of data refresh of the dataset after this group promotes our datasets, reports, and /or dashboards via pipeline from development to test or from test to production, and they manually start data refresh. If data refresh fails, we have to notify them after we have received the e-mail alert notification from Microsoft Power BI..From our point of view (Developer) when a dataset refreshes in Test or Production workspace, we use the "See Related Content" in a visual report to monitor the "spinning wheel" in the Datasets section that the data refresh is in progress from time to time especially if data refreshes over 1-2 hours to complete. We do not have access and we cannot see datasets in TEST and PRODUCTION workspace but admin support team.
