Make the publish to web feature available to be used for private sites so that confidential information can also be shown.
And please make the authentication method as flexible as possible

Today I’m very excited to announce the availability of the Power BI report web part for SharePoint Online! We’ve heard from you that you wanted an easy way to securely share Power BI reports in internal sites, enforce security permission, including data security. We’ve been busy at work with the SharePoint team building an out-of-the-box web part for SharePoint Online using their new Modern Pages infrastructure. The new web part we are releasing today enables SharePoint authors to embed Power BI reports directly in SharePoint Online pages with no code required! The feature is available today for Office 365 First Release customers. Truely, this is the 'private' publish to web. You can read more about it on the Power BI Blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/integrate-power-bi-reports-in-sharepoint-online/ I know from reading many of the comments below that there are other cases in which people want to embed in external portals that enforce authentication, or on billboards that update data frequently. We have a great solution you can build on in Power BI Embedded, an Azure service you can use to build these kinds of experiences. You can read about it here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/power-bi-embedded/ We really appreciate all the feedback and ideas. Please tell us what else you'd like to see us add to Power BI. -Lukasz

RE: private publish to web

the ability to publish a Report, to a select group / domain / list of emails, as can be done with Dashboards, would be very helpful. This is because the Report can be linked to from internal intranet sites (such as SharePoint), or just in corporate email etc.

The functionality of Reports is also higher than Dashboards, for example Reports retain drill down when published. This means that the Report can be securely shared within an organisation (for example Finance reports) and retain all the functionality of the Desktop design.

Publish to Web is very insecure for corporate data and cannot be used safely, it could be trawled by anyone outside the organisation which is an obvious risk. Enterprise customers need to be able to publish reports to selected / targeted users or security groups. Dashboards lose too much functionality and are not a good substitute.

Thanks!

Just IP whitelisting who can see a published report would be perfect, then I can present dashboards on wallboard in the offfice, but they are not visible for others.

Even though publishing to the web gives you code that I put behind the SharePoint 365 login, Upper Management in my office would still prefer there to be some sort of authentication to ensure that the HTML code can only be used in one spot. Maybe one time use HTML code?

Publishing to Yammer would also be helpful.

RE: private publish to web

We are using a digital signage solution that we could work to use embedded PowerBI but it would be a nightmare and really take away from the ease of use that PowerBI offers. What we need is the ability to have a private publish interface that we can provide a direct link to so that XIBO (our digital signage system) can easily pick it up and display it. I also note it would be nice to be able to control the refresh rate of that data as well.

I would like to be able to publish the dashboard on the computer I'working on (a server in this case). And be able to access it via the browser http://servername/powerbi/mydasbhoard. Thanks for adding value to the tool with this feature!

The ideal solution should include a way to pass the UID as a parameter to the embedded Power BI report to be able to filter the content based on the level of access (similar to RLS).

RE: private publish to web

Pretty much agree with Steve's comment. I need the ability to embed in a WordPress site where I control user/membership access. Let me worry about authentication and who can log in, but I cannot have the data/reports being included in some gallery or be searchable. Can't have Microsoft using client P&L dashboards put on display as an example for the world to see.

The ability to securely publish reports with confidential data to a secure intranet site will be a game changer for many of my clients not currently on-board with Power BI.
