Make the publish to web feature available to be used for private sites so that confidential information can also be shown.
And please make the authentication method as flexible as possible

Today I’m very excited to announce the availability of the Power BI report web part for SharePoint Online! We’ve heard from you that you wanted an easy way to securely share Power BI reports in internal sites, enforce security permission, including data security. We’ve been busy at work with the SharePoint team building an out-of-the-box web part for SharePoint Online using their new Modern Pages infrastructure. The new web part we are releasing today enables SharePoint authors to embed Power BI reports directly in SharePoint Online pages with no code required! The feature is available today for Office 365 First Release customers. Truely, this is the 'private' publish to web. You can read more about it on the Power BI Blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/integrate-power-bi-reports-in-sharepoint-online/ I know from reading many of the comments below that there are other cases in which people want to embed in external portals that enforce authentication, or on billboards that update data frequently. We have a great solution you can build on in Power BI Embedded, an Azure service you can use to build these kinds of experiences. You can read about it here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/power-bi-embedded/ We really appreciate all the feedback and ideas. Please tell us what else you'd like to see us add to Power BI. -Lukasz

RE: private publish to web

Is there any update to this? As previously stated the publish to social media is very detrimental to this functionality.

RE: private publish to web

Now that you added the dumb social media links on web published reports, you actually broke the current method of embedding the link in sharepoint as a semi-valid security method. Now this is completely useless.

RE: private publish to web

This is crucial as it relates to publishing to SharePoint online, where the report data needs to be shown, but includes business proprietary data that by policy cannot be public.

RE: private publish to web

It has been raised since May 2016, we are planning to purchase this tool but we really need this functionality so that we can put all our dashboards in our own website, without this feature buying Power BI is USELESS.

Thanks

We use digital signage from Xibo and really would like to find a way to secure preview the reports on our screens at work. Will follow this thread and see if there is any feedback or developement for this.

RE: private publish to web

Almost useless if we can't securely publish reports.
Really important features that could really add value to our SharePoint Intranet... if it was secure! Almost all our PowerBi reports have confidential informations, it's impossible to publish them to internet.

RE: private publish to web

I like the ability to publish to the web and the simplicity of this. This is great for non-confidential data. However, for more confidential reports I would not feel very confident using this as the data is publicly available to all on the web, all they need to do is find the link. As you can imagine this is very easy to do from viewing the HTML of a web page.

We would need some way of being able to publish the power bi report so we can share it with external people and display on intranet sites for example but also make the link hidden or more secure.

RE: private publish to web

The key piece for me is security. I have no problem with embedding the code for an iframe.

In the long run, a web part of an app makes sense. It should be fully integrated into Office 365.

Sharing in Sharepoint would not meet our needs. We need to be able to show reports on our digital signage with frequent updates.
