Disable Analyze in Excel feature without disabling 'Export Data'

Currently under the Tenant Administrative Settings, disabling 'Analyze in Excel' does not prohibit users from using the tool. The only fix is to also disable 'Export Data'. A tool which I would like to keep since it only shares data that is explicitly included in my report, and none of the underlying data.

Agree, this option trips up my end users and causes increased risk of reporting errors for large datasets

Agree with comments below. ... add concern for large datasets. and Excel-centric users who will Analyze in Excel instead of opening report.

Agree, this should be disabled. Our reports are set to "export summary" data only, so having this feature on makes no sense.

I found this really helpful. They should still give the option to disable the feature, but there is a workaround in my case. https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Disable-Analyse-in-Excel/m-p/623319#M62168

This is an extremely important feature to add in order to avoid to expose the entire model to Excel.
Also a simple export in CSV of the underlying visual would be already great.

RE: Disable Analyze in Excel feature without disabling 'Export Data'

This entire feature is extremely disingenuous.

There's a whole set of features to limit data exposure and control downloads, at a per report level, but analyze in excel supersedes it all. There's simply no way to provide a visualization in power bi without giving users access to the underlying sensitive data.

I would like to be able to disable "Analyze with Excel" at the dataset level (while allowing download summary).

If you disable "Analyze in Excel", the download option would only allow summary and not underlying data.

I agree, this setting must be a dataset-level setting, Not just a tenant-level setting.

Yes, this is critical. Exporting from a visual is far more controlled to help users get the right data, and analyze in excel can reveal all tables, including background info and tables that the model owner wants to protect. Yes, tables can be hidden, but from what I see, they all get unhidden at the first refresh!

This is a no brainer! Report writers should have the ability to control what is available to the end user.

Please fix this.
