A great deal of my work with clients is SPC, statistical process control. In Excel with or without Powerpivot (depending on the data size) I create a column with the process data which is usually data over fixed time period (Patients per week, Appointments per day etc) then overlay control limits (upper and lower UCL+LCL, based on 3*stdevP) along with Average and Erlang's (0.8*(UCL-LCL)+LCL with all 5 lines displayed on the graph and the extracted numbers in a box at the side. (LCL,UCL+Average+Erlangs). It would be awesome to have it as a type of chart instead of calculating it all out manually each time (even with Macros it's a pain)

100% agree as I'm trying to generate the same view for my consumers of the data.

I have a number of customers asking for this. It would be hugely valuable

I would agree completely. Currently we use a separate product for SPC charts and analysis, but would like to be able to utilize proper SPC charts from PowerBI and SSRS's RDLs.

QlikSense have a community contributed visualisation add-in that does this. For PowerBI to compete it needs more sophisticated visualisation types, so an MSDN article on this and survival Kaplan-Meir plots would be fantastic.

I have been trying to figure out a way to do this within PowerBI. I think it would be a great piece of automation if it were natively incorporated. Especially if it provided the ability to choose between different methods (average, median, stdev) as part of the tool.

I agree. The ability to track critical X´es in Power BI would a very useful addition
