I wonder if anyone else was lead here by the powerbi community. This is something we would require as well. I hope there is another solution/workaround (or better yet more activity) in less than the amount of time this thread has been opened.

I would love to have this function, ideally it adds a function for users to be able to add a text next to a row within a MATRIX chart.
This scenario would be for someone who is checking multiple records within a MATRIX chart and wants to indicate completed records.
Example:
Column1 | Column 2 | Column 3
Item | Item ID | Box for free text
Tools | 01548 | Users can type or checkmark to indicate a record was reviewed
