Creating a live connection to SSAS MD or Tabular is working just fine. However, it would be very beneficial to have the ability to create new calculated measures (in MDX). Just like we can create our own calculated measures when writing an MDX query for a SSRS dataset.

Hi everyone! I'm really excited to announce that you can now create calculated measures on top of a live SSAS connection! The measures are stored in your report definition and sent along with the queries to your model. Any update on this? We're busy reviewing the different dashboarding solutions and the ETA on this will help us make the call.

We're hoping to use Power BI rather than Tableau, as we're using the Microsoft BI stack for everything else, but this is a big limitation.
If you can produce this fast, or give a rough ETA, that would be great. We're using Tabular models, analyse in excel is not an option as we're an SaaS platform.

Your competitors are using not having this feature against you. Can you give us an update on the Multi Dimensional Cube portion?

That's a good news indeed because you're still very limited when you connect PowerBI to a SSAS source. Any ETA on the update for SSAS multidim - DirectQuery mode? Thanks

Multidimensional is the most important for us as well. We currently have to provide a Tableau offering that we could discontinue.

This is fantastic. We have multiple SSAS cubes that need % of total and other custom measure flexibility. Do we have an ETA on this?

A vendor told us that calculated measure against MD models is 2 to 3 years out. Tell me this isn't true :)

Great news! We really need the MD support, so I hope that comes out quickly after Tabular. Any timelines for this?
