Make the publish to web feature available to be used for private sites so that confidential information can also be shown.
And please make the authentication method as flexible as possible

Today I’m very excited to announce the availability of the Power BI report web part for SharePoint Online! We’ve heard from you that you wanted an easy way to securely share Power BI reports in internal sites, enforce security permission, including data security. We’ve been busy at work with the SharePoint team building an out-of-the-box web part for SharePoint Online using their new Modern Pages infrastructure. The new web part we are releasing today enables SharePoint authors to embed Power BI reports directly in SharePoint Online pages with no code required! The feature is available today for Office 365 First Release customers. Truely, this is the 'private' publish to web. You can read more about it on the Power BI Blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/integrate-power-bi-reports-in-sharepoint-online/ I know from reading many of the comments below that there are other cases in which people want to embed in external portals that enforce authentication, or on billboards that update data frequently. We have a great solution you can build on in Power BI Embedded, an Azure service you can use to build these kinds of experiences. You can read about it here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/power-bi-embedded/ We really appreciate all the feedback and ideas. Please tell us what else you'd like to see us add to Power BI. -Lukasz

RE: private publish to web

As has been stated by others, the ability to securely and privately publish data to SharePoint/O365 SPO is the main requirement for my clients. Publish to the Internet just doesn't cut it for 99% of organisations.

I'd like to see the same as @Jesh Harbaugh - the ability to embed reports in our intranet without disclosing data publicly.

RE: private publish to web

Publishing to SSRS and making use of it's security mechanisms might be a good solution for a private publish to web feature. I also think a consumption based pricing model, rather than per user licencing would let PowerBI increase it's audience.

RE: private publish to web

I would like to be able to publish a sensitive report to our secure intranet site without having the reports also publicly available.

RE: private publish to web

the existing functionality meets my needs except for the fact that it says that the data could be available or searchable on the internet. I need something like private videos in you tube where the only people with access to the visual are those that have the URL which would include some unique and random GUID

RE: private publish to web

In interests of data security private publish should have been done before public share with no security whatsoever. Simple requirement - be able to publish to intranet/domain or user group only.

RE: private publish to web

Many of the govt. agencies are looking to enhance data warehouse and BI capabilities, but they are unable to move to cloud-based PowerBI.
SQL 2016-SSRS is new and improved. At present, SSRS does understand PowerBI files but, it's like an attachment.
It will be a great feature to be able to publish PowerBI visuals to on-prem SSRS portal.

RE: private publish to web

Private publish would allow us to integrate with our current web application.
My company cannot have confidential data available to the web so ideally we would like to have some kind of js api to authenticate and request individual charts / dashboards / reports to be displayed in our application.

Need to be able to publish reports internally in our O365/Sharepoint.
