Thanks for this idea. We’re looking at how best to enable such scenarios.
Any updates last comment from tetam was 2015...that's nearly 15 years in technology time.... almost three whole versions of SQL server have been released at this point and no news...
At the Microsoft Business Applications Summit we showed off an early preview of the new decomposition tree visual! It’s in the works and coming soon to Power BI. Check out this blog post for more information: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-new-ai-and-enterprise-features-for-power-bi/
So this is 3 years old now.... any updates????
So it has been over two years....is that gonna happen or?
I also don't understand why this can't just translate to local viewer timezone. The PowerBI desktop even has a timezone data type... you'd just you could just specify the offset for the data (so flag it with its UTC value) and then let the viewer adjust.
Yes, please add conditional formatting for dimensions (Text). We often have business logic that is applied during ETL and stored in the fact or dimension table, and being able to do conditional formatting like in Excel on text values would be very useful.
Thank you all for the feedback since our last update. We’re working on building a new navigation experience to allow authors to customize a folder-like structure for all the contents within Power BI Apps. Stay tuned!
You might have noticed in the November update of Desktop we added a new modeling view, that includes the ability to set ‘display folders’ for your fields! While it’s in preview, let us know your feedback, and look for it GAing soon!
We are currently working on the support to re-open pbix files from desktop.
so...it has been "planned" for nearly a year...any news?
Any feedback on when this feature might roll out? Thanks!
It mentions planned, any comments on how soon it may roll out? Thanks!
Yes is greatly needed for us as well as we use security roles in SSAS Tabular and need those to carry forwards to Excel being published to PowerBI but using SSAS Tabular data sources on prem. (Or give us SSAS Tabular in the cloud and I can publish my Tabular models there, just need SOME way to let Excel published to PowerBI query Tabular data models on demand/refresh on open so security filters work)
Thanks everyone for your support and votes! We’re working on enabling commenting for dashboards and reports in the Power BI service soon. Stay tuned.
I would like to have the option to "markup" a chart (like mobile) and that is nice, but what our org really NEEDS is the ability to comment per line.
An example being a sales report, we need the ability for people to go in and flag each line with a comment and write that back somewhere. The point being they would want to flag bad sales and explain why and tag GOOD sales and ...also explain why.
