There is currently an option to turn this of at the report level. But I think it should be an option to turn it off by default completely. It is just not a useful feature - it creates more false/incorrect relationships than correct ones, and having to turn this off in each new blank workbook is not workable.

Also, if you click or hover on the relationship, please make the tables scroll so I can see where the join is. This is the only reason to hover/click - to see this info. Double click of course to edit.

At the moment we don’t have any plans to implement this. It sounds like it’s mostly useful for learning/training? If there are other ‘production’ scenarios that you think it’d be useful, where a regular table/matrix wouldn’t work, please let us know in the comments!

I also do this in Excel, but in Excel it doesn’t respect filters. If it would do this is would be killer!

I would like to see a global switch to turn this on or off so the user has a choice.

This hasn't been delivered as yet. It is now possible to download a PBIX from PowerBI.com as long as the report was created from a PBIX file originally. But what about the use case covered in the OP?

You are using direct query mode to a tabular model. You create a new report in the service connecting to the direct query dataset. There is no option to download a PBIX.
