+1 this is a frequent annoyance across my team. While I'm guessing this limitation came from UX designers thinking about touch screen target sizes, many items I need to resize are not touch/click targets. It is not stopping us from resizing by dragging - but very tedious and time consuming when trying to size shapes precisely for clean visual design of reports.

Since the initial release, we added support for table, matrix, and cards.

    https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-july-2018-feature-summary/#tableTooltips

    https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-september-2018-feature-summary/#tooltips

I’ll leave this idea open for now since there are some requests for shapes, textboxes, and buttons, but it would be helpful if people can comment on their use cases for report page tooltips on these non-visual report elements.

+1 for allowing custom report page tooltips on buttons. Main use case is for "info" icons (usually definitions of terms used throughout the report, or caveats about the data).

Currently we're accomplishing this by using the info icon unicode character in a measure, and putting that in a card that supports tooltips. However this seems like a hack, and is also clunky because of the way tooltips are triggered on cards. They only show up when mousing on the character itself, rather than the area of the whole card. It would be easier if card tooltips triggered when mousing on anywhere in the card, not just on the text. That could lessen the need to add it to buttons.

Update: Found this tutorial for another hack - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IURWlw2_6Ks&pbjreload=10 - though can't get it working. More evidence for this need.

Update 2: If it helps anyone else - we were able to create a measure that was all spaces and apply that to a card to use it as a blank hotspot to trigger tooltips over any object. You get an ellipsis though if the spaces overflow, so either need multiple measures depending on size of card, or to position/color so the ellipsis blend in.

One reason we turn off slicer header is to put labels next to the field rather than above. If there were an option to choose stacked or in-line layout for slicer header (label + eraser), that would help us immensely.

An update on this would be appreciated - we will be restructuring our workspaces/apps in PBI Service enterprisewide later this year to clean up clutter and better align PBI to our org structure/needs. Our approach would be very different if we could create folders inside workspaces, rather than many flat workspaces. Workspaces that are collaborative can quickly get messy without folders or even user names of who last edited the report and when. Security on folders is also an interesting idea that others have raised.

Thanks for the feedback! While this isn’t (yet!) on our near term roadmap, please keep voting and giving us feedback on the idea. We definitely see the need and will update the idea when we are closer to adding this feature.

Another update on this item – users now have the ability to set up scheduled subscriptions with paginated reports and 6 different formats, along with parameters per subscription to allow further personalization. There is also now the ability to create paginated reports against any Power BI dataset in the service, and we’re planning to add drillthrough from Power BI to Paginated Reports in the short term.

We still have plans to support e-mail attachments for Power BI reports as well in the coming months, and we’ll share more specifics once we get closer to starting that work.
