There are longer term plans to allow larger exports in that use case, but there isn’t a current timeline as to when that will be available. Customers who have Power BI Premium can set a drill-through to paginated reports via URL parameters as a workaround in the interim, as there is no data export limit for paginated reports.

Tableau has no limit. Just saying.

Scenario: HR Data steward authorizes their work space Member/Contributor to create a PBIX of non-protected personal data and share the published cloud based data set with non-HR work space (no HR database access either) people in another work space so they can use it with their data sets to get related personal data.

    1. Still not possible to add a shared data set to another data set in the cloud.

    2. If we could this would negate the need for granting access to databases as only the data we need to share can be curated in a published data set that uses the author's credentials from the desktop.

Agreed. Desktop has a direct connection. Published to services has a gateway connection. Name the Services Gateway "Whatever" that connects to some database. PBI Desktop has a Gateway field called "Whatever". The PBI Desktop does not use the Gateway until Published.
The Gateway Services name remains the same but we can change where it points to which in effect changes where all the reports point to that use that Gateway Service name.

Agree. I don't really need to see the Longitude and Latitude in the Tool Tip as an example.
