To expand on our needs around this Idea, which are similar but slightly different, but still around downloading PBIX files from PBI Service...

    Given:
A PBI dataset (data model) resides in workspace A
    AND
a PBI Desktop user is provided Build permission to the dataset in workspace A
    AND
the PBI Desktop user is NOT a Member, Contributor, Viewer or Admin of workspace A
    AND
the PBI Desktop user has sourced the dataset (data model) from workspace A into PBI Desktop
    AND
the PBI Desktop user has created a "thin" report using the dataset sourced from workspace A
    AND
the PBI Desktop user has published the "thin" report into workspace B, where he is a Member or Contributor

    When:
the user opts to Download the "thin" report to their PBI Desktop from workspace B

    Then:
the user should be able to do so

    Current behavior:
The user is not able to download the "thin" report from workspace B unless they are also made a Contributor or Member of workspace A

To expand upon this idea, we are looking to be able to modify the Direct Query parameters from PBI Service.

    Use Case:
    1. We define parameters within the PBIX file in PBI Desktop on Direct Queries
    2. A parameter that we might define will limit the data being sourced into PBI Desktop so that the PBIX can be more easily worked with in desktop (smaller data set)
    3. We then, publish the PBIX file to PBI Service in Premium Capacity
    4. We change the values in the parameters of the data set setting to expand the amount of data we are souring

We currently can do this when using the Import Query, but it is not available when using Direct Query

Currently, the product allows a report writer to create a Measure, but not a calculated column. You would typically expect the report writer to be able to create simple calculated columns such as first-name and last name concatenated together, or to make a simple case statement to say “before this date = A, and after that date = B”. Don’t think of it as a modification to a table, but more like a measure (an on-the-fly calculation) at the grain of each row. This SHOULD be something on their roadmap. From the PBI team’s perspective, we view this as a pretty important capability to allow report authors to create a purpose specific, or analysis-specific simple calculated attribute
