We’re pleased to announce that in the May release of Power BI Desktop you can now define incremental refresh policies for your models.

At present these only apply once the model is published to a Premium workspace in the Power BI service; we’ll be bringing it to all Pro users in the future.

You can read more about it in our blog here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-2018-feature-summary/#incrementalRefresh

We’re going to leave this idea open for now, so please give us your feedback while we’re in this preview phase!

I honestly don't care what the TLA is for this (my votes would to go TQL, MQL or PQL), but the essential thing is that we desperately need a TLA for this language. M is far too short to be helpful, and with the de-branding of Power Query in the Excel UI, it's very unlikely that any user will even know to search for Power Query in any way. Give it a proper name and advertise that in the UI so that we can give users a fighting chance of actually finding teaching resources and help with the language.

Updating the status to be more accurate. We have now shipped a preview of this feature in our September release (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-september-2018-feature-summary/#pdf) and an update to it in our November release (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#pdf). Make sure to try out the preview and give us feedback if you haven’t already.

Since this got merged from a different thread, I just want to clarify something as the topic is not quite the same...

What I'm looking for is the ability to read from a PDF. While extracting tables would be nice, my priority would be to read the PDF as a text file so that I can do my own parsing of any of the data inside. I.e. I don't want this restricted to only pulling in data that looks like a table.

Please bring this to Excel as well. I get this question EVERY time I teach a course on using Power Query. It's a very big need!

We’re actively working on adding IntelliSense support for M authoring in the Advanced Query Editor, Formula Bar and Custom Column dialog. Expect to see these capabilities in one of our next few monthly updates, hopefully before the end of 2016. : )

                              Ken Puls commented  ·

Not just the Advanced Editor please. Add Intellisense to the Add Custom Column dialog as well (and make sure it gets to Excel, not just Power BI Desktop)
