I agree this is a great idea. The SQL Server team seems to have invested a big effort in making read-only secondary replicas available, and makes it a key selling point. Since by nature any connection from Power BI is read-only it seems only natural that Power BI take advantage of this SQL Server capability. Even though there are not a lot of votes currently, I would expect the effort to implement this is low and I hope the product team can address.

It's great that they now have support for offline on Android and iOS, but they really need this for people using Windows devices that need offline access also.
Hi everyone. There are some really interesting ideas in this thread, thanks for your vocal support about it! We’ll consider it for the future along with other suggestions and plans. Thanks!
We will think about enabling this. Won’t “embedding” in a public site via iframe be sufficient?
Thank you all for the feedback since our last update. We’re working on building a new navigation experience to allow authors to customize a folder-like structure for all the contents within Power BI Apps. Stay tuned!
Thanks for the suggestion, Tony! Anyone else think this would be useful? Please add your votes!
At the moment we don’t import custom objects (we have to request specific things through their API) but we could improve this in future.
We could also import custom fields on their standard objects.
Who else would find it useful? Please add your vote if you would!
Thanks for voting, everyone. We’re actively considered this and more votes will move it up our backlog.
Great suggestion! There’s minimal control over this today and we’d like to improve this. If you need real-time updates today, you can take a look at the Developer APIs for pushing data directly into Power BI datasets. Adding your vote will help us prioritize this functionality!
Thanks for the suggestion. We will consider this and prioritize against other ideas.
Thanks for the idea Maggie. Anyone else think this would be useful? Please add your vote if you do!
