While researching this topic, I noticed that all the examples given (in community forums) appear to be for the Dropbox v1 API, which has been deprecated and will be turned off in a few months (June 2017):

    https://blogs.dropbox.com/developers/2016/06/api-v1-deprecated/

The v2 API looks much more complex - there doesnt appear to be any direct equivalent for the method suggested above (single HTTPS call with an API Key). The authentication requirements now seem more complex:

    https://www.dropbox.com/developers/reference/auth-types#user

It's stumped me - I hope the direct integration can be added soon!

We’re pleased to announce that in the May release of Power BI Desktop you can now define incremental refresh policies for your models.

At present these only apply once the model is published to a Premium workspace in the Power BI service; we’ll be bringing it to all Pro users in the future.

You can read more about it in our blog here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-2018-feature-summary/#incrementalRefresh

We’re going to leave this idea open for now, so please give us your feedback while we’re in this preview phase!

I hate to imagine all the unnecessary processing that is being run every day (on our desktops and also app.powerbi.com service) because this (seemingly simple) feature is being overlooked.

The unavoidable 1 hour update delay makes this publishing path useless for almost any scenario. I cant understand why it has headed in this direction? The delay was previously 15 minutes - I expected it to get shorter not longer. By definition a OneDrive for Business user is a paying customer. Currently the Power BI Free(loaders) get a better service by publishing instantly from PBI Desktop. I'm advising all my clients to avoid this path at present which is a waste of an otherwise useful feature, and a disincentive to buy PBI Pro.

I have a ton of dbf files which I need to Append - they came with ESRI shape files.

Its hard to explain why you can open a dbf file in Excel with no fuss, yet you cant from Power BI or Power Query.

I've tried the ODBC route, and I can get to the list of tables (dbf files) using Get Data. But when I select any table I always get this error:

Invalid SQL statement; expected 'DELETE', 'INSERT', 'PROCEDURE', 'SELECT', or 'UPDATE'

I'm hoping this Docs idea (started by one of the key "M" developers) could be the opportunity to resolve this issue - please vote and comment: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/16204225-move-the-formula-language-m-documentation-to-d

Docs certainly looks/works better than MSDN - you get my vote. But I noticed that's another variation on the name for this thing ... the Docs move is probably your last chance to sort out the name ... PQL? https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/11680242-provide-an-official-short-name-for-power-query-for

It seems ironic that there is so much emphasis on OneDrive in Power BI, yet you cant use Power BI Desktop to open a file in OneDrive ...

Yes its crazy that 1 year after GA and we still don't have undo or even Discard in the Query Editor. Instead I have to constantly drop in and out of that window and Save the whole file after each query change, to have a rollback point.

I tend to edit queries in a parallel Excel workbook to avoid this, then copy and paste their scripts across - but that is also painful.

There's more discussion of this issue here, including examples of public websites with .xls files:

Using some of the visuals is quite complex, yet they are basically undocumented besides a paragraph on the Custom Visuals page. Advanced Viz is the key area of weakness for PBI vs other mature solutions eg Tableau. Please put more effort into documenting, supporting and improving Custom Visuals.

We are investing to constantly improve the custom visuals and the platform. performance, reliability, feature-set, etc.
Most visuals are maintained by the community, and we encourage them to improve. recently the custom visuals gallery was migrated to the Office store, where reviews and ratings are available, so I encourage you to go and review visuals and ask for features directly from the developers.
You can also use the dedicated community site to suggest ideas: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Custom-Visuals-Ideas/idb-p/CustomVisualsIdeas
