Another update on this item – users now have the ability to set up scheduled subscriptions with paginated reports and 6 different formats, along with parameters per subscription to allow further personalization. There is also now the ability to create paginated reports against any Power BI dataset in the service, and we’re planning to add drillthrough from Power BI to Paginated Reports in the short term.
We still have plans to support e-mail attachments for Power BI reports as well in the coming months, and we’ll share more specifics once we get closer to starting that work.
A must have, otherwise you are limited to 1m rows via the On-premises Gateway refreshed on schedule.
Is it a commercial decision that they support DirectQuery on desktop but not on enterprise gateway for Redshift as it's AWS?
We have the DirectQuery equivalent on server option for Redshift on our our very old Tableau reports for 4+ yeas.
Yes we need a direct query to Amazon Athena, Tableau and Amazon QuickSight can do this already!!
Rather than go via the Enterprise Gateway or bridge driver, we need a direct query to Athena ... Amazon QuickSight and Tableau can do it:
yes this needs to be over SSL too and support direct queries otherwise we won't use it!
Please add direct query too, otherwise the Enterprise gateway will have to run on a schedule to sync the data. Direct query is something most BI Visualization tools have out of the box, it's strange PowerBI doesn't.
Please add a direct query to Amazon RDS / Aurora like you have for Redshift and SQL Server, otherwise you will need to use the Enterprise Gateway to sync the data on schedule. Almost all other BI Vendors have this.
