Agreed. I've managed to get around this by dividing appropriately - if the measure is in millions, I create a new measure that divides the old one by 1 000 000. This is a clumsy solution - it would be much better to have formatting available in the alert mails somehow.

Indeed... I've created the bulk of the reports used by my organization. Now I want to go on leave, and I've had to create an auto-forwarding rule for refresh failure notifications so that they can be investigated by someone else if they occur. Not the most elegant solution - awesome as it is, Power BI definitely needs a little more team/enterprise capabilities.

          Thanks for the feedback!

Item #1 is something we’re currently working on. It should be available very, very soon.

Could you elaborate a bit more regarding #2? Are you looking for a way to automatically refresh your reports within the Power BI Designer, for Desktop-based scenarios? If I understand correctly your ask, this would be similar to the “Connection Properties” options inside Excel, where you can configure a given connection to refresh when opening the workbook and auto-refresh every N minutes. Is that what you’d like to see in the Designer?

          Thanks,
          M.

Similar: In groups where members are read-only, it would be fantastic to let them make their own dashboards in their "My Workspace" section by pinning tiles from the group reports. This is the exact grain of control that my organisation needs - Analytics team deploys reports and some main dashboards, and users can then pull the content that they want from the various pages.

Interesting - I've found one use for the calculated columns. If I have an indicator column "Valid", with values "Y" and "N" - I usually want to sort by "Y" first. If I create "Valid_Sort" as DAX custom query-layer column for this, and then try to sort "Valid" by it, I get a "Sort By Another Column Error" due to dependencies.

However, if I create "Valid_Sort" as a calculated column in the data layer (which is quite a bit more of a hassle, it must be said), I don't get the error and am able to sort "Valid" by "Valid Sort".

You may be able to achieve this by creating an "Ad Hoc Aging Sort" column, duplicating your range logic, and filling it with an integer for each range: 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

Then, on the Modelling Tab for "Ad Hoc Aging", select "Sort by Column" and select the new column.

I've managed to use the workaround, but I think this is quite an important feature missing from Power BI even though it is available in Pivot Charts in Excel's PowerPivot.

The exact functionality I'm looking for is on the Pivot Chart "Select Data..." option, under "Hidden and Empty Cells".

Very useful for plotting time series against a large date dimension, where some measures are blank for certain time periods!
