The relative date slicer (a Preview feature as of June ‘17) gets us close to this with the ’This Month’ or ‘This Year’ settings. That is a dynamic date selection that updates based on the current system date. We plan to add a ‘YTD’/‘MTD’ option to specifically select a range from the start of the month/year up to today, hopefully that’ll address the remaining requirements!

I'm getting resistance from users due to this gap in the product. If they have to export the data in order to copy a Reference (i.e. job number / ticket id etc), they will then export all the data and filter it in Excel as they are used to doing, rather than drill through it and interact with it in Power BI to get to the data they want.

I've got some users who will struggle to remember to turn it on each time. So frustrating that my reports are saved with Drill Mode on, but then have to be turned on every time they are opened in the Service.

I agree. Once i download a custom visual, i generally then try and find the authors blog and follow their comments on any changes they are planning to make, and ask them questions directly. This is a very messy way to do it. We should be able to get alerts that there are new versions available, and submit queries to them via the Custom Visuals page. I've struggled to use some of the visuals and haven't been able to find any documentation / videos online explaining them.

Another update on this item – users now have the ability to set up scheduled subscriptions with paginated reports and 6 different formats, along with parameters per subscription to allow further personalization. There is also now the ability to create paginated reports against any Power BI dataset in the service, and we’re planning to add drillthrough from Power BI to Paginated Reports in the short term.

We still have plans to support e-mail attachments for Power BI reports as well in the coming months, and we’ll share more specifics once we get closer to starting that work.

Even just the ability to hide them on the visualization would help. I often have a logo, title, a few slicers, and then some charts. Only the charts need this bar, on the others it really is a waste of space.

Hi everyone. With the February release of Power BI Desktop we’ve released a Preview of this feature! You can add multiple fields to the slicer and use expand/collapse to drill through the values in the hierarchy.

    https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-february-2020-feature-summary/#_Hierarchical_slicer

We’d love to hear your feedback on it – please add comments to the thread here if there’s other things you’d like us to add.

Thanks again for voting and giving us feedback!

There is now a hierarchy slicer available in custom visuals. Been playing with it today and its not perfect, but has helped improve my reports immensely.

Agree. I often only want to select at D level, but it seems to default to M when the report is opened.
