Yep, I think people will enjoy usage monitoring for individual reports and dashboards as well.

We have many users that want to connect to our SSAS but we do not want to put them on our local domain controller. We only want them to have Azure AD. In order to give them access to the cubes and apply permissions properly, we need to use CUSTOMDATA(). The "Map User Names" feature seems to do what we need but we have a few issues with it. (A) It requires all the usernames to be entered manually into each gateway connection. This is a lot of manual work. Being able to do this from the REST API would really help us streamline this process. (B) The mapping seems to take only the first rule that applies. I'm not sure if this is by design. The documentation doesn't explain it. We would like to be able to apply multiple rules to the same username so that we can map it to multiple permissions (e.g. location, department etc.)

This is resolved with the Map User Name setting in the enterprise gateway. See here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/tech-tip-thursday-user-principal-name-upn-mapping-in-power-bi/

Would like to see a dynamic URL or Report action from Power BI that can take the user to an SSRS report for a drill down based on the filters that are applied to Power BI report

From the comments and scenarios everyone’s describing, the problem is really that you need a way to allow end-users to change which measure is displayed in a visual on the fly.

As a few folks have mentioned, the FORMAT function might help in the interim, as long as you’re showing the results in text rather than a chart. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dax/format-function-dax has details on how to use that.

The expression-based formatting feature that we’ve started work on may help to a certain extent, but that’s really designed to change a visual’s properties rather than the data type or format. We’ll look into extending that work to support this scenario as well.

We’re moving this to Backlog status – our core plan is to build ways that end-users can change the dimensions or measures that are visible in a chart on the fly. They’ll be able to explore much more freely rather than…

I agree. This is a crucial feature. I posted a similar idea at https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/11040396-add-ability-for-excel-workbooks-to-have-a-live-con. Please vote on my idea as well. Thanks.

This is crucial for sharing pivot tables with other users and can help PowerBI be the one stop shop for delivering reports!

The Enterprise Gateway should allow for Excel connections as well
