Power BI Paginated Report - Action - Go to report missing / Go to URL (open in same window)

In native SSRS it is possible to call the report itself and hand over the necessary parameters.

On a specific cell, you go to properties and enable Action and choose "Go to report" (it is possible to achieve the same behavior even with "Go to URL"). Then you can use the report and every time, when you trigger that action you keep using the same report on the same tab in your web browser.

If you want to implement the same functionality in Power BI Paginated Report you don't have the option "Go to report". However, you can work around it by using "Go to URL". Then you can use the report and every time, when you trigger that action you keep using the same report but a new tab in your web browser opens. With every additional click on the action cell, you get one more tab in the web browser. Which is unusable.

Therefore, I would like to see either "Go to report" action in Report Builder or a possibility to choose whether a "Go to URL" should open a new window or not.

When inserting an image to a report, we can choose an action like: Back, Bookmark, Q&A and now Web URL (since March 2019). However the Web URL option doesn't give any way to choose on how the URL should be open: new window (_blank) or same window (_self), and by default it opens in a new window. Could we have a set of options for Web URL action, or at least allowing us to enter html code in that field?

Paginated Report - Validation Run to open in new window

In Cognos, when reports are run from Report Studio, it opens result window in new tab. This helps in looking at data as well as report design to adjust. This option is not available in Report Builder and leads to more efforts in building and testing Report. Need to have option to show result in different window so that it can be tested like other BI Tools. Thanks for looking into it!

Url filtering in Power BI Mobile and Windows App

Currently there is no option to open a specific report with URL parameters in power bi mobile and windows app . This feature is really important to open a generic report with personalized parameters . This option is however available in web version but it is equally important if we use it in mobile or windows app.

JavaScript execution on Action URL table column value

I'm using the embed report and have a table visualisation that contains a column with an action URL. Clicking on the column value redirects me to the new browser tab, but the requirement is to open the URL in the same browser tab.

I tried the inline JS with window.parent.document.location.href url approach with a custom column, but had no luck as it is considered a value as a string.

I know that JavaScript syntax can be run inside Power Query for data extraction and wrangling, but it looks like it is not working with the linked column. So please suggest if there is a way to execute the JS function on the click of an action url column value.

Possibility to choose how a URL shall open

I would like to have the possibility to choose, in Conditional Formatting when you turn on Web URL, how the URL shall open. In same tab, in new tab, in new window.....

Right-click tile to open report in new tab

It used to be possible to right-click a dashboard tile to open the linked report in a new tab or window. Lately, the menu that appears on right-click does not have those options. This is very frustrating and feels like something that dev team overlooked in one of the latest updates. The workaround is to set a custom external link to the report, but that workaround looks a bit silly.

Paginated Report: Close Window after download output option

Hi When we use URL to run Paginated report and export to Excel/PDF, it first renders the report and then export. Even after export is complete, it keeps new window open. In other Reporting Tools like Cognos, it closes the window when run as Drill through from other reports. I think, this will be a good feature to add an option in parameter like autoclose = true/false to allow window to close in such scenario. Thanks!
