Excel Pivot Tables in PowerBI with on-prem data

The latest update of Excel and PowerBI on the Insight Summit is good. But what we also need is the ability to work with an Excel Pivot Table, Pivot Chart where the data resides on premises, as opposed to data being exported or uploaded to the service.

could you provide some more details? where on premises the data will reside, and use the Pivot tables in PBI Excel reports?

    Integrate Powerbi with Pivot tables

Hi, I have used Powerview extensively. Pivot table connected to a Tabular Model is today the best available tool for pivoting. Nothing to beat it. howevere powerview and pivot tables are not integrated to each other, i.e. they do not share the same parameters. The filters I have selected in Powerview shold also filter (optionally) a pivot table also.

Over the last few months, we've made a lot of progress on a new matrix visual that supports cross-highlighting, stepped layouts and drill. Learn more about the new matrix preview here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-desktop-matrix-visual/

In Live connection - Export Matrix visual into an Excel pivot table that is live connected to the model

When using Live Connection and Exporting Matrix visual into Excel, the excel sheet should open with a pivot table that is already connected to the model, with the same configuration that the matrix had. from that point the user can continue using the excel pivot, analyzing and exploring the model from the excel itslef.

Dynamically changing the column headers in the table/pivot based on user selection in the Slicer

    Hi Team,

We have got a requirement where user want to see the selected period from the Slicer in pivot column header and values for that. This can be easily done in the other tools, for example Qlik sense but not in the Power bi.

The alternative solution is to place blank button which was suggested but that won't fulfill our requirement. As when users will try to export the table data to an excel that won't be exported.

This is easier when it comes to dynamically changing or customizing the table/pivot column headers in other BI reporting tools.

It will be really great if we have this feature also enabled in Power Bi which will also help customers choose power bi over other tools available in the market today.

Hope to see this feature enabled soon in power bi.

    Thank you!

    Pivot 'Show as Table' Feature

Please add pivot table feature for Show as Table of visuals. My visual looks great, with months as x-axis with partners as legend to observe MoM movements of our partners's transactions. When Show as Table is enabled, the month variable is one column while the partners are the column headers for the transaction. Please add a feature to align the columns with the x-axis of the visual.

    Filter directly in table/pivot

It would be great to have an opportunity to filter table/pivot records by clicking on any dimension's value. Now there is only highlight possibility and it only filters values in other visuals, but not itself.

Make Matrixes more like Excel Pivot Tables

Power BI is great overall but has some really really really frustrating deficiencies. For example, I often need to view data values by month, where a product are in the rows, months are in the columns. Power BI requires you to sort by the total of all the given months, but I often want to sort by one of the months' data values (e.g. the last month) as opposed to the total of all of the months. Excel Pivot Tables can do this, PBI cannot. Also, it is really annoying to not be able to sort by a data value that outside of the visualization. I realize you can bring in the metric and then hide it, except that in the month view, this then requires you to hide EVERY SINGLE MONTH worth of those values. Just to sort. Terrible. Finally, an Excel Pivot Table allows you to put values above header or vice versa. So I could show all the units by month on one end and then all $ sales by month on the other. Power BI does not allow for that however and instead requires that units and $ sales clump together. These sound minor perhaps but they are really annoying to have to work around. Please consider those of us that want to use Power BI for business and not have to export otherwise perfectly good charts just to sort......
