A major current gap in Power BI functionality is not being able to have the end user select from a filter menu when they open the web version Power BI Report that then downloads the information they select from the data source (thinking a SQL Server database view).

This would result in much better performance and report design instead of having to open the report with all data already imported into it. Think inventory and master data for all plants at a company. The report gets massive size wise when we include all plants globally (we have requirement to show data details as well as aggregated visuals). It would be AWESOME if the user could select what they want to import into the report they see instead of having to filter down from an already imported data set. This would be HUGE improvement and make Power BI amazingly useful. Before moving to Power BI, this is how we designed VBA controlled Excel spreadsheets that pulled data from a SQL database and it worked extremely well.
