Develop an item formatting property which allows to set the visibility of a report item when you want to conditionally hide the item based on a report parameter or some other expression that you specify (also DAX expressions).

You can develop this incrementally starting from visuals, then text boxes, then shapes and buttons....

If you want to go the extra mile, you can also develop a functionality that allows the final user to toggle the visibility of report items.

For more information and since it was an available and really useful capability see "Add an Expand or Collapse Action to an Item (Report Builder and SSRS)".

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/report-builder/hide-an-item-report-builder-and-ssrs?view=sql-server-2017

I double checked in the ideas database and there are many ideas describing the same functionality; this is the reason why I do believe this is really required and will try to collect all the previous votes under this item.

RE: Visibilty (Hide an Item)

It would be great to have an option to hide/show the object base on a filed value
ej.
If a card value is "High Level" and Image related to that would be visible
if card value is "Low Level" another different image would be visible

RE: Visibilty (Hide an Item)

e.g. to hide an empty\blank chart until any value shows up. Just to avoid nasty blank objects...Selection >>> Layer order >>> Hide + conditional based on a measure or column ?

Yes please! If we could also do the same for Groups (grouped visuals) then that would be superb.

Appreciate it. But, regarding RLS and possible problems with selection I would say a Toogle to hide/unhide is the solution here.it is already possible to change the color of text I think, we would need just another value to be reachable through formulas

RE: Visibilty (Hide an Item)

Yes!! Often data is not available for all values in a slicer so instead of having the visuals show up blank, would be better to just hide them unless there is data to report. One hack I came up with is to use a dummy shape that masks your content and with conditional formatting, make that shape 100% transparent when some condition is met. Ideally, the size of visuals would be responsive and fill some designated area. if a visual becomes unhidden, other visuals resize to fit. that way you don't have random blank spaces on your report.

RE: Visibilty (Hide an Item)

We know using bookmarks that every visual has a "visible" parameter. Please add a field in the visuals data in which could be indicated a boolean measure. Sorry for bad English, I'm french.

RE: Visibilty (Hide an Item)

Please allow measure to control visibility of objects. The bookmark is somewhat walkaround solution compared to other BI tools but we need a more systematic/programmatic way to achieve this. The bookmark can complement but shouldn't be a primary/only way.

RE: Visibilty (Hide an Item)

The ability to set whether a visual/object is visible depending on a formula or any kind of dynamic condition.

RE: Visibilty (Hide an Item)

There should be conditional formatting option through DAX to control visibility of a visual

RE: Visibilty (Hide an Item)

I would love that visibility of objects could be tied to a boolean measure. That would open a whole new range of dashboard interactions
