The Play ability in a Bubble Chart is a great way of discovering and visualizing trends. The current manual way of interacting with the timeline is not really useful.

We need the ability to control the speed of the play axis. I have too much information happening at the same time. It needs to go slower. Furthermore if it is not already implemented it would be really cool to see a fade that I could also control.

Awesome, I agree with Richard Black; this does not just apply to Bubble chart. Most any visualization can benefit from an ability to show dynamic change over time.
