    I just want to put an RSS link in and have that appear on my dashboard like the Bing News source.

    Odata feeds are a connector available to use for consuming "RSS" feeds.

    I support this. I want to add state department travel 'alerts' feeds but they only have rss as the subscribe mechanism.

    I think the value in this is feeding in information that is not necessarily a number - e.g. latest support requests by title.
