Just as we can write a specific a SQL statement from SQL Server, it would be great to be able to write a SOQL statement from Salesforce objects.
Also, it would be great to be able to grab the underlying SOQL statements that generate specific Salesforce reports, so that the underlying report itself doesn't have to be maintained and the underlying SOQL in Power BI could "take over" and be modified accordingly.

RE: Have Power BI accept a SOQL statement for a Salesforce Query
If MS does not do something in collaboration with SF then SF should drop the feature. It is not sustainable for anyone to have to download hundreds of thousands of rows with a ton of columns that you don't need. or to have to rely on incremental refresh. the alternative of a data warehouse is also too demanding. Ideally, filters should be passed in the request.
RE: Have Power BI accept a SOQL statement for a Salesforce Query
Seems quite a lot users are suffering the SFDC connection, any voice from Microsoft please?
RE: Have Power BI accept a SOQL statement for a Salesforce Query
Need this for:Development and testing so I can reduce the data set size for better performanceTo work around the long query string issue (instead of GET, can a POST be used?)
RE: Have Power BI accept a SOQL statement for a Salesforce Query
feels like a no brainer for Microsoft in term of eating Tableau advantage with the most used CRM in the world
RE: Have Power BI accept a SOQL statement for a Salesforce Query
Don't understand how this is not yet available? I'm having to use an excel plug-in that can query Salesforce data using SOQL then push that sheet to Power BI...

Please add this
RE: Have Power BI accept a SOQL statement for a Salesforce Query
We need SOQL support otherwise we will use tableau CRM
RE: Have Power BI accept a SOQL statement for a Salesforce Query
This is a must as we have hundreds of tables and millions of records. By writing a specific query, we could limit the data right from the source and not use up all time and resources.
RE: Have Power BI accept a SOQL statement for a Salesforce Query
Please make this an option. I spend HOURS waiting on SF loads for something that could take seconds if I were able to pull in only what is needed.
RE: Have Power BI accept a SOQL statement for a Salesforce Query
This is the part that is missing. There would be no need for 3rd party products if this was there.
