I will often use ratios in my tables and I would like to be able to allow a user to point at a value/cell and see the tooltip of the numerator and denominator so they have a frame of reference rather than having to include the numerator and denominator in their own columns. Also, I'd like to be able to add tooltip descriptions to column headers so users are able to get a description of how a column is calculated and what it means.

Hi, I like the custom tooltips, but when you put them on a grid they don't display useful values when hovering over Row and Column Headers. In addition, the format of the tooltips is not customizable and concatenates both the name and title of the row or column header.
I want to be able to turn off the black tooltip, or be able to swap it for a less intrusive one, like the default cream coloured tooltip

why is this not a popular idea, we need to display comments on table/matrix headers for users!

Having it for table values by column would be ideal -- if Matrix visuals already support this (albeit not a clean implementation), then why not Table visuals?
Furthermore, to have even column specific header tooltips, like Excel's comments, would be invaluable to end-users.

I would be nice in order to explain some more info or exceptions on each column, or if not possible, general to the table.

I need this because we need to be able to allow the users to see where a field came from ( source table/field, calculation or general comment on expected value).

I see different use cases:
1. Define a tooltip scoped to a specific table visual column.
2. Define a tooltip scoped to a table header and table rows for a specific column
Both would be very helpful to provide detail for tables.

Agreed. I've got a matrix where there's not enough room in the row headers to expound on their detail.

We really need to be able to add a tooltip to the column header.
It is often necessary to add a description to a specific column, and this is far from easy to accomplish.
Ideally one should have the option to add either a fixed text or a measure.
