No options for automating the Power BI Recovery if the gateway has broken and need to restore using the recovery key . Currently this needs to be carried as a manual process , adding this as a automated process will helps with deploying instances on AWS using the Auto scaling group.

RE: Automate the data gateway recovery

Just like Microsoft SQL Server, There should be a way to Back-up and Restore on-prem Gateway servers + data connections,
and optionally restore them into another Server, with the option to make them redundant for failover recovery.
If that Gateway crashes catastrophically , users will loose all the 100's or 1000's of connections that need to be entered manually into a new Gateway, which will cause a great loss of time and money for the enterprise.

RE: Automate the data gateway recovery

I do not feel comfortable with relying on a Key to be able to perform the restoration in case of failure. It would be more reliable to provide a second backup option to be able to restore in case a real disaster would happens. We have to maintain a separated database to save records of each data source setting. And for a big company this is something to think of..
