In the Fields section of Power BI, it uses and up arrow to indicate that it is expanded, and a down arrow to indicate that it is collapsed. If you look at something core to Windows, like File Explorer, you see that a down arrow is used to indicate that it is expanded, and a right arrow is used to indicate that it is collapsed. In general, I think the interface would be more intuitive if the expansion/collapse icon was to the left of the text, and conformed to the right arrow and down arrow to indicate that it is collapsed and expanded, respectively. This applies not just to the Fields section. In the Visualizations section, the icon should be to the left of the the field name in the Rows/Values/Columns sections and use the right/down arrow paradigm. In the Filters section, it should be to the left of the field name and use the right/down arrow paradigm. Perhaps this team is "in the know" on the direction that Microsoft is going with their interface standards, but if not, they should conform to the standards of other Microsoft products for a more consistent user experience.
