Import Data Model for Datamarts

I'm building reports off the auto-generated dataset created by my Datamart.

I found that Direct Query is much too slow and limits the complexity and number of visualizations on a report page due to performance. Query cashing isn't sufficient to speed things up.

Per the Understand Datamarts blog, "During preview, auto-generated dataset connectivity is available using DirectQuery only.". Does this imply that another option will be available once Datamarts are generally available? If not, can we have an Import data model option that utilizes Vertipaq or something similar?
