It would be great if there was an option on published to web report's for exporting to excel.

We have published data on website using a few Excel book over the years and need to update each of them at least once a year. Having used power bi desktop and sharing data through report server, we thought it would be a great idea to publish both visualization and data on web so that we don't have to manually update every Excel book on web each year, only to find in the last step of testing we cannot make data exportable from power bi.... I think our colleagues don't even want to talk to me now .... :(

I agree with below comments posted by one user and i have similar requirements:
"I thought of this to be a default function and was disappointed in Power BI to know that it's not there. This is, of course, a mandatory option to provide, If power BI team wants to provide an option to publish to the web. The end-user will always need that data to use at some other place either for their own reports or for other purposes. My organization was excited to use Power BI, now, after this lacking of the feature, we are considering alternatives."

Power BI is an excellent tool, the only thing to be perfect was to enable data export via web publishing.

yes... seriously a very basic feature so we're able to do more with the data that's on hand.

It's a a real problem. It was possible in Reporting Services, so it is not very useful not having it in Power BI. A report admin should be enabled to decide to use this feature or not.
